I’m Marie, the human behind Lambshead Studio
My goal is to make art that brings a ☺ smile ☺ to your face.
I love to create things that are both playful and practical so whether you're a minimalist or a maximalist, I hope you'll find something in my collection that speaks to you.
“At the heart of it all, my work is about finding balance—between digital and analog, serious and playful, art and utility. ”
After 15 years as a graphic designer working in advertising, I was ready to step away from my screen and into something slower, more tactile, and refreshingly analog. That shift led me to ceramics, where I could blend my love for design and illustration with a hands-on creative process. Most days, I can be found in my home studio in Toronto’s vibrant St. Clair neighborhood where I work on playful yet practical pieces that bring a sense of nostalgia and joy to everyday rituals.
I love weaving pop culture references into my work, offering a more casual, lighthearted take on a medium that can sometimes feel overly serious. In a world where so much of our surroundings are mass-produced to be identical, there’s something special about owning a piece that was made by human hands—something with subtle variations, tiny imperfections, and a story behind it. Something that is 1/1.
Working with clay—a precious, nonrenewable resource—I am mindful of waste and sustainability. I reclaim all my clay scraps, recycle all the relentless junk mail that lands at my door, shred old shipping boxes for package filling, and only run my kiln during off-peak hours to minimize energy use. My goal is to create a near-zero-waste workspace while still making ceramic art that sparks joy. Whether for maximalists who love bold, illustrated pieces or minimalists who appreciate clean, functional forms.
At the heart of it all, my work is about finding balance—between digital and analog, serious and playful, art and utility.
